The City of Sarnia is pleased to announce that the recruitment for the Economic Development Officer has been successfully completed with the appointment of Ms. Monica Shepley, effective January 7, 2019.

Monica Shepley will be joining the Community Development Services and Standards Department. Ms. Shepley is an advocate for Sarnia-Lambton business and community development. She was the manager of advocacy and policy development with the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce for the past four years. During that time she worked closely with the business community to influence government policies and promote Sarnia-Lambton as a great place to invest.

An alumnus of S.C.I.T.S. and Carleton University, Ms. Shepley lived and worked in Ottawa, Greenland, Denmark, and the UK before returning home to Sarnia in 2010. She has 13 years of cumulative local and international experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors, including in the construction industry and for an international bank, members of parliament, and an international NGO. Prior to the Chamber of Commerce, she managed the Bluewater Sustainability Initiative.

“We look forward to having Monica join our team and would like to take this opportunity to welcome her aboard. Monica will develop Sarnia’s business environment and support Sarnia’s municipal assets, including the Sarnia Business Parks, Sarnia Harbour, and Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport,” explains Alan Shaw, Director of Community Development Services and Standards.
