After more than 26 years with Sarnia Fire Rescue Services, Fire Chief John Kingyens has announced he plans to retire this summer from the City of Sarnia.
Chief Kingyens started with the City in 1992 as a firefighter and during his career held positions as a Fire Prevention Officer, Safety and Training Officer before being promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in 2011 and Fire Chief in 2013.
In 2018 Chief Kingyens achieved the credentials of Executive Chief Fire Officer by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs. Chief Kingyens was a member of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, Urban Fire Chiefs Committee.
Human Resources will begin the recruitment process for a new Chief in the coming weeks.
